Bow Valley Funeral Service is committed to making this website usable by every visitor, including those who rely on assistive technologies. We treat accessibility as part of caring for the families we serve in Canmore, Banff, and the Bow Valley.

Our standard

We design and maintain this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the technical standard recognized by the Government of Canada under the Accessible Canada Act and reflected in the federal Standard on Web Accessibility. As an Alberta business, we also align this commitment with the Alberta Human Rights Act, which protects people from discrimination on the basis of physical or mental disability when accessing goods, services, and facilities.

What this means in practice

  • Text contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against background colours (3:1 for large text)
  • Every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone
  • Images that carry meaning include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as such
  • Forms have visible labels and clear error messages
  • The site respects your prefers-reduced-motion setting
  • Pages use semantic HTML structure (headings, landmarks, lists) so screen readers can navigate efficiently

Known limitations

  • Some embedded third-party content (Google Maps, social media feeds, payment widgets) follows the providers' own accessibility implementations and may not fully conform
  • Older obituary content uploaded by families may include images without alt text or video without captions
  • PDF documents linked from this site (price lists, forms) may not all be tagged for screen readers; call us and a team member can read the contents aloud
